This is the history of C-47B 43-49531 as we have put it together. It is a difficult thing to collect all the data to know what it did and where an aircraft was stationed and the tasks and operations they were involved with when it has 65 years of service, between 2 nations.
28 Nov 1944 - Delivered from Ok City Factory to Baer Field, Indiana.
30 Nov 1944 - Acceptance Inspection Complied with and accepted by the Army Air Corps. All G.F.E. installed on aircraft.
13 Dec 1944 – Aircraft was flown to Morrison Field, Florida, an Air Transport Command field for ferry to Italy.
17 Dec 1944 – Aircraft Departed US for the first time to MTO joining the 15th AF on 23 Dec 1944.
23 Dec 1944 to 13 Jan - Spent 20 days at unknown unit based around Bari, Italy.
14 Jan 1945 – Aircraft Joined 12th AF, Squadron unknown at this time. Aircraft stayed with this unit until 11 Sept 1945
11 Sept 1945 she made her 6 day trip back to the US carrying G.I.'s back home from the war front.
17 Sept 1945 – Assigned to 4197th Base Unit, Greenville AAF SC ( Storage ) Last recorded action was landing there.
29 Jan 1946 - Abilene AAF, Texas. ( Maintenance )
6 April 1946 - was listed as Excess and sold to RFC. At Davis-Monthan AAF
15 July 1946 – Conversion to DC3-C complete for Pacific Seaboard Airlines
Mid Feb 1948 – Sold To Israeli Air Force as C-47B, saw action in the War of Independence and many more.
Last Sqaudron was 122, The International, of the Israeli Defense Forces, she wore # 007
16 Aug 2000 – Sold to Global Parts Inc. Villenueve, Alberta, Canada as Excess from Israeli Air Force
16 May 2008 – to Current, American Aeronautical Foundation
